Who is Apex Asphalt?
Apex Asphalt has been in business for 15 years and have two highly successful branch operations and was selected as one of the top 300 Black Empowerment companies in South Africa.
We have taken our years of experience in running smaller contracts on the domestic market and applied this proven business concept to Government, Parastatel and Metropolitan Entities, where being owner driven we are more flexible and cost effective. This coupled with our unique marketing program in the domestic market make for a highly successful business enterprise.
The target marketplace is massive and cannot possibly be serviced by a single national company. The compartmentalizing of our efforts, which results from franchising, makes it very possible indeed. Each franchisee has a raw material supplier and support infrastructure well position to their area of activity. Their efforts are concentrated on work face marketing and servicing.
We are a company on the move and intend to have established a network of approximately 50 franchisees around the country in every major area within 5 years, mostly BEE with a solid back up and training base in each major centre.

Domestic Market
There exists in the region of 400,000,000 m² of asphalt that belongs to the homeowners of South Africa. Much of this is in need of repair, replacement or resurfacing.
That is why you can drive through any neighborhood and see the evidence of no maintenance. Potholes, surface cracks and general degradation is the norm with only the odd newly constructed or relatively new driveway looking good.
South africans are traditionally proud homeowners and the reason they do not maintain their driveways is attributed to one or more of the followin:
- A lack of technical information.
- A general misconception that it will last forever.
- No specific 'D.I.Y' maintenance products available in the market place.
- Cost implications of Driveway Contractors only repairing by way of asphalt overlay.
- Owners do not notice the ongoing process of decay. i.e. How did it look 2 years ago?
National, Provincial & Municipal Market
There has been a huge back log of road maintenance in the suburbs around the country.
This backlog is now being addressed especially at National, Provincial & Municipal levels and the policy is to outsource the smaller contracts and award them to BEE contractors.
Apex Asphalt has extensive experience in running smaller contracts. We have applied this proven business concept to all spheres from local to national government entities in the line with the Broad-based Black Economic Act.
